P2/3 had an excellent trip to Scotland Street School today. We were doing a workshop called "Toys" and looking at old and new toys. Our guide for the day was Billy and his able assistant Elliot.
We started off with some drills in the gym hall:

Then Billy took us up to one of the old classrooms and told us a bit about the school and the children who used to go there:

We then went into the Head Teachers office and Hannah had to look for the belt in his desk. I was given the belt to hold from the rest of the day and nearly managed to sneak it back to school but P2/3 remembered just at the last minute and Billy took it back!

We went into another room and looked at some of the toys. We sorted them into 2 piles - old and new and then got to play with some of them.
David and Honour dressed up in old fashioned clothes too:

Rebeka enjoyed playing on the Space Hopper!

Jack managed to get hold of a cowboy hat and gun:

Kathryn liked the old fashioned knitted doll:

At the end of our session we each made a peg doll. Here we are with our dolls:

Miss Speirs
What a great day out! I used to play on an orange space hopper. What's it doing in a museum?!!!

Looks like a lot of fun. I am so glad you were only holding the belt as April told me you "got the belt" :)
